Looking after your scissors in the correct manner they deserve.

Hello,

I usually start a sewing session with a cup of tea. I get the sewing things organised while the kettle is boiling. Then I sit and have the cuppa and think about what I will be doing.

I usually drink a tea like English Breakfast or Earl Grey but lately I have decided to try something a little different. Stinging Nettle Tea. It is supposed to be good for you. It tastes like ..... but sometimes you learn to like things you didn't think you would. I make the experience a little better by having my quilted tablecloth and a mug rug on the table and drinking it out of my quilters mug.

Sometimes your sewing days are filled with surprises which make you think what the heck is going on. Just make sure you don't get frustrated like this gardener did in the above photo. It can be puzzling at times but it will all work out in the end.

I read quite a few machine embroidery newsletters and one this week had a wonderful tip which I put to use.

To protect your scissors just cut a length of plastic straw to cover the end. This is a great idea because when you think about it when you pass someone scissors you are left with the sharp end facing you. Plus when carrying them in your bag to class etc the ends are protected.

I had some fun making up these mug rugs for my scissors or they could be used for your cup of tea or coffee. I have them beside my sewing machine. They are so handy to have and it was all done in the hoop on the embroidery machine. You can see the reverse side in the previous photo. This freebie is available from Michelle's blog.

Can you believe it is over a month since Christmas. I had such a surprise when I opened my Christmas Bon-Bon. Guess what the little joke said inside.

What do you call someone who collects Mug Rugs?

Happy days.

I think it would take more than a pretty quilted tablecloth and mug rug to make yucky tea taste good, no matter how good for you it is lol.
love your little scissor rests, they would make a lovely gift. even a little pocket for your scissors.
happy mug rug day!

Poor Shez, maybe she needs a nice hot cup of nettle tea.

We don't seem to attach the same love to mug rugs here in England as elsewhere we use coasters . .
Today has been sunny but my friend bluebell says the forcast is dire fore the rest of the week.
Enjoy your sunshine

What a great idea, protects all the fabric and thread in the bag, and the bag itself! I use a little rubber stopper thing on my scissors for travelling, but I only have one, and far too many pairs of scissors! Loved the mug rug pranks all over the place, there's been a lot of good-hearted fun had at Shez' expense, though I don't think she has minded at all ;-)
